Wines With A Tune

By random selection I purchased two wines over the past few weeks that were crafted by famous musicians. This led me to think there has to be more musician and winemaker duos.

These artists not only put their heart and soul into their music, they pour their heart out into their wine as well.

1. Carlos Santana – Mumm

His sparkling wine matches the zest I feel when listening to his music. His wine plucks the taste buds as does his guitar solos.

2. Dave Matthews- Dreaming Tree

Dave Matthews and winemaker, Sean McKenzie, believe “the best vintage is pretty much right now and the best pairing is your favorite people.” Dave Matthews who makes it clear his appreciation for the environment in his music also makes it clear in his eco-friendly wine brand. Isn’t Dave just the greatest.

3. Fergie – Ferguson Crest

Stacy Ferguson, aka Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas makes wine a family affair. Her dad moved the family from LA to Slovang, a small town outside of Santa Barbara where they have boutique winery and quite a very varieties. One of course one of the wines is name after her top song “Fergalicious”on her debut studio album. She describes her wine as

“So delicious (it’s hot, hot)
So delicious (I put them boys on rock, rock)
So delicious (they wanna slice of what I got)
I’m Fergalicious (t-t-t-t-t-tasty, tasty)”

Just kidding, I wish!

4. John Legend – LVE by Raymond Vineyards

Leave it to John Legend to pair up with the fabulous Raymond Vineyards to produce his wine collection. His Cabernet Sauvignon better be as silky, smooth and as sexy his voice for the steep price of $85. Does the bottle come with John? I’ll take a case!

5. The Rolling Stones, Greatful Dead, The Police – Wine That Rock

These wines are not necessarily all made by the musicians however this company uses the classic rock hits to inspire their wines. However they did bring in Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux for a one-on-one blending session, and wrapped it all up in a one-of-a-kind bottle that brings to life the great essence and personality of the Dead.

6. Train – Save Me San Francisco Wine Co.

Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co. is a collection of wines inspired by the Grammy Award winning band Train, crafted by esteemed winemaker James Foster. A portion of all the proceeds of wine sales goes to help Family House, a non-profit guest house in San Francisco that provides temporary housing to families of patients at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.

Each wine variety named after their top hits and has the most eye catching labels with all the San Francisco landmarks.
